In 2024, Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp appointed Shehzaan Chunara, Development Coordinator of the Chunara Group of Companies, to the State of Georgia’s Board of Economic Development.

The Chunara Group of Companies is proud to announce that Vice President of Development Shehzaan Chunara has been appointed by Governor Brian P. Kemp to serve on the Georgia Board of Economic Development. The appointment was included in the Governor’s July 15, 2024 announcement of 66 appointments to state boards, commissions, and authorities.

Shehzaan earned both his undergraduate and graduate business degrees from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, graduating in 2014 before joining the family business full time under the mentorship of his father. As Vice President of Development for the Chunara Group of Companies, he directly oversees the growth of the family’s franchise partnerships across a portfolio that includes Dunkin’ Brands, Checkers, Popeyes, Church’s, Take 5 Oil, Blaze Pizza, Kale Me Crazy, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and BurgerFi. His work also extends to the expansion of the group’s real estate holding company and its private equity investments.

A central focus of Shehzaan’s leadership is supporting operating partners so they have the resources needed to retain and develop restaurant-level team members — a people-first approach that has shaped how the group scales. Outside of business, he is actively involved with the Aga Khan Foundation and remains committed to community service and philanthropy.

The appointment recognizes Shehzaan’s contributions to Georgia’s business landscape and positions him to help shape economic development strategy for the state.
